Richard Pumphrey’s religious sculptures are created to inspire reflection, faith, and reverence. Each piece is thoughtfully designed to convey the symbolism and content behind sacred stories, bringing spiritual themes to life. The works are designed to be in harmony with their indoor and/or outdoor spaces, employing existing motifs to create unity.

Using a variety of materials such as clay, concrete and bronze, these works include detailed relief sculptures, crosses for columbariums, and memorial sculptures. His portfolio ranges from small medallions to large installations.

Richard approaches each religious sculpture with a deep respect for its spiritual significance and setting. His process begins by having conversations with the client about their objectives, visiting the site if possible, and studying the subject’s historical and symbolic meaning in harmony with a proposed installation site. Typically, this is followed by Richard’s creating sketches to help the client understand the essence of the proposed piece. The goal is to create sculptures that honor faith traditions while bringing a sense of peace and reverence to existing or proposed sacred spaces.
